Two warm and welcoming local venues for your little one
Confidence in the water starts early, which is why our baby swimming lessons in Halifax are designed to help your little one feel safe and supported through fun, relaxed, and rewarding first experiences. Our team of experienced instructors lead small classes through thoughtfully designed activities that encourage coordination and comfort in the water. Meanwhile, by promoting gentle skills development and bonding time between you and your baby, we make sure every session brings genuine excitement too.
With warm and welcoming pools at two different venues, our baby swimming lessons in Halifax provide convenient options for families within the local area. We offer a calm and supportive environment to build early swimming skills, where you can gently introduce your baby to the water in a relaxing and familiar setting. And, once your baby has developed the skills they need to swim independently, we offer our Swimstars programme (ages 3-8 years) at both locations – so you can continue to grow your little one’s confidence in a familiar, safe setting.
Both parents and babies alike love baby swimming in Halifax. Caregivers can explore our full range of baby and toddler swimming programmes, learn more about how our lessons work, or book a class online to secure a place at one of our Halifax pools.
About baby swimming in Halifax
Designed to support children from their first few months through to the toddler years, our baby swimming lessons in Halifax are tailored to different stages of development. Through gentle, play-based activities – encouraging natural movement in the water – our sessions focus on building water confidence through fun. And with the support of a parent or guardian, babies gradually become more comfortable floating, kicking, and generally exploring the water.
We also have the luxury of two venues to choose from. At Ravenscliffe Hydro, the pool is heated to a lovely 34°C, perfect for keeping little swimmers nice and warm, and has a steady variation in depth from 1.25m to 1.36m – ideal for learning without the overwhelm. Ravenscliffe also has the benefit of free onsite parking, providing easy access to the facilities – a must when transporting a baby – and spectators are very welcome, meaning you can share your baby’s first moments in the water with other loved ones. As well as weekday availability, our baby swimming programme at Ravenscliffe also offers Saturday lessons, which means working parents are still able to bring their little ones to the pool.
The Plains Pool in Elland also benefits from a toasty water temperature of 31°C, and also has a small depth variation of 1.2m to 1.4m. Swimbabes has the sole use of this pool at all times, and also offers free onsite parking. Lessons are available every weekday.

At what age can babies start swimming lessons in Halifax?
Babies between the ages of four weeks and 18 months can be enrolled, depending on when you feel comfortable bringing your baby into the pool. It’s best to register as early as possible, as most venues do have waiting lists due to small class sizes.
Your baby does not need to have had their immunisations before starting swimming lessons, and if the parent or caregiver attending with your little one can’t swim, there’s no need to worry, as our pools in Halifax are shallow, where an adult can easily stand and walk.
Where are the pools based in Halifax?
Our Halifax pools are Ravenscliffe Hydro, at Ravenscliffe School, and The Plains Pool in Elland.
How much do baby swimming lessons in Halifax cost?
All of our classes, across all Swimbabes venues, cost £14.85 per session. After your initial booking, these will be paid on a monthly schedule that you’ll receive when we confirm your booking. This includes access to an online portal where you can monitor your child’s progress.
What baby swimming programmes are available in Halifax?
At both locations, the swim programme is continuous, meaning we offer all four levels of baby swimming lessons in Halifax, from preliminary sessions designed to build confidence to our swim school, our independent swimming stage, where children fulfil the session without a parent present in the pool.
Where can I park to attend a baby swimming lesson in Halifax?
There is free parking onsite at both Ravenscliffe Hydro and The Plains Pool, so parents and caregivers don’t need to worry about transporting their baby long distances to get to our facilities.
